Keno was first played in 200 before Christ by the Chinese military leader, Cheung Leung who utilized this game as a way to finance his failing forces. The metropolis of Cheung was at war, and after a bit of time seemed to be looking at a national famine with the dramatic decrease in supplies. Cheung Leung needed to develop a quick response for the financial calamity and to produce income for his army. He therefore designed the game we know today as keno and it was a great success.
Keno used to be referred to as the White Pigeon Game, since the winning numbers were delivered by pigeons from bigger cities to the tinier towns. The lottery ‘Keno’ was brought to the US in the 1800s by Chinese expatriates who headed to the US for jobs. In those times, Keno used 120 numbers.
Today, Keno is regularly enjoyed with eighty numbers in a majority of the US land based casinos as well as online casinos. Keno is mainly enjoyed today as a result of the relaxed nature of playing the game and the basic fact that there are no expertise needed to play Keno. When the Nevada government passed a law that taxed off track wagering, Nevada casinos quickly altered the name to ‘Keno’.
