It won’t often be considered the most fun game in the realm of gaming, but keno has tons of keen followers. And so it should! It’s a routinely thrilling lottery-ish game that’s uncomplicated to pickup, abundantly available in tons of assorted formats, and one that can pay out mega-dollars for players who master its heaps of subtle nuances. But let’s deal with the basic facts here.

When defining keno to amateurs, some betting pros compare it to lotto. This is at least partly correct, in that each game is fundamentally numerical. But to take that comparison too far might be to underrate the endless unique characteristics that make keno so compelling. Unlike bingo, keno enthusiasts have the freedom to choose the numbers for each and every card.

Keno cards have a grand total of eighty numbers, but the user is given an increased level of personal responsibility by being able to choose as numerous (or as few) numbers as he feels they need. And it doesn’t take a genius to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your handpicked numbers with a standardmarker like you used when you were in school.

Once you have selected your numbers, carry the card back to the nice person at the keno booth. The person will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Do not lose this (potentially) expensive piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your loud shirt and wants help out, without a winning ticket with you, you will collect precisely $.00 for your winning card.

Ok, there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno slip. Let us advance to something a tiny bit more complicated, ok?

Now that you’ve selected your numbers, get yourself into a comfortable keno booth and see the action take place on the big keno monitor. This is where the winning numbers show up for us. If you’ve got winners, mark your card accordingly. Make sure not to take your time, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You must get up to the keno booth to collect your winnings, as a new keno game will probably get going within five minutes.

Strategy #2: always go back to the keno booth on time!

Since you can’t trust yourself to meet that 5 minute deadline every time, you always retain the option of purchasing a "multi-race" card. These include the very same set of your selected numbers on anywhere from two to twenty slips. When the max number of rounds (matching the number of tickets) is completed, you should then get off your lazy butt and go redeem your winnings.

Still another alternative is known as a "stray and play" keno card, which commonly allows you make number choices for thirty rounds or more. Hell, you can take vacation to Italy and not have to fret about getting back in time to get your numbers. Most "stray and play" slips are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!

So now you have learned several required techniques for winning keno. If you are a good keno player, they may appear to be incredibly obvious. However, it doesn’t hurt to brush up on the fundamentals, and if you are a newbie gambler, every tiny bit of direction will help make your keno gambling more exciting.
