It will not often be thought of as the most lucrative game in the arena of gambling, but keno has massive amounts of zealous fans. Why wouldn’t it? It’s a regularly thrilling lottery-esque game that’s uncomplicated to play, abundantly available in a number of different styles, and one that can pay out millions for people who learn its innumerable subtle rules. But let’s begin with the beginner’s rules for now.

When explaining keno to novices, some wagering pros compare it to the lottery. This is at least partially correct, in that each game is generally numerical. But to carry that comparison too far is likely to be to undervalue the many unique traits that make keno so exciting. Unlike bingo, keno enthusiasts have the power to choose the numbers for every card.

Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the player is given an additional level of personal responsibility by being able to pick as many (or as few) numbers as he or she feels they need. And it doesn’t take a keno superstar to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your handpicked numbers with a ordinaryball point pen like you had when you were in third grade.

Now that you have marked your numbers, carry the game card back to the nice person at the keno stand. The nice person will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Don’t misplace this (potentially) expensive bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and would like to help out, without a winning receipt in hand, you will get precisely $.00 for your winning card.

Ok, there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno ticket. Let us advance to something a little bit more useful, ok?

Now that you’ve selected your numbers, get yourself into a comfy keno booth and see the action take place on a monitor. This is where the winning numbers are shown for all to see. If you marked winners, mark your card accordingly. Be sure not to take your time, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You need to get up to the keno booth to redeem your winnings, and then a new keno game will almost certainly get going within a few minutes.

Strategy number two: always go back to the keno booth on time!

Since you don’t trust yourself to make that five-minute margin each and every time, you always retain the option of using a "multi-race" ticket. These include the same set of your handpicked numbers on anywhere from two to twenty cards. When the maximum amount of games (the same as the amount of tickets) is completed, you will then be able to get off your numb bum and go get your winnings.

Still another opportunity is referred to as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which commonly lets you make number choices for 30 keno rounds or more. Golly, you can take a world tour and not have to worry about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" slips are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!
